Special Olympics training…

We knew our son needed a better feel for his snowshoes or we’d be sending him off to the winter Olympics tripping over his own feet. The challenge… Connor needed to practice with snowshoes on his feet, but southwest Michigan had yet to see any accumulation of snow.

When we focus on the deficiency we risk missing the delight.

We watched for snow that didn’t fall.

How many steps are missed, looking for the obvious, tripping over what we should have seen?

It was all there, right in front of us. Cloaked in apparel fit for arctic competition, we layered sweatshirts and feather-filled jackets, scarves, warm hats and boots. The terrain had already been cloaked by the Creator, made perfect for training. Not covered in snow, but in beach sand and high winds.

He trained. Connor ran well and ran hard.

He is prepared for his race.

What about you? Can you strive for the finish line with confidence or is your focal length set on the lens of the obvious?

The obvious chokes with the betrayal: you don’t have what you need.

The obvious accuses you’re not…
smart enough,
strong enough,
educated enough,
experienced enough,
rich enough,
pretty enough,
liked enough,
welcomed enough,
holy enough.

And apart from Jesus, that just might have some truth to it.

But in Truth, [Truth is a person] you are. Open the aperture wide to see– enough.

“…as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1.3

In God’s divine creativity and power, He saw you from the beginning of time and already created what you need. It’s your faith, your prayer and your trust in God that will open your eyes to see beyond the obvious, peer into His goodness, and enable you to receive and embrace what you need. And it is enough.

God’s love for you is so vast, so high, so wide, so deep, that you cannot have a need He is unaware of. Nor has He overlooked.

Step into the race with confidence, you have enough. You have HIM.
